What are porcelain veneers?

A veneer is a micro-thin, custom-made shell applied to the front and edges of a tooth. Veneers may be used to improve the appearance and function of teeth that have been damaged or decayed, or which are improperly aligned or severely discoloured. They can also eliminate unattractive gaps between teeth. Veneer treatment is minimally invasive, and the process involves little or no discomfort.

Veneers created at Improve Your Smile are made to look almost exactly like your natural teeth, but better! We use porcelain because it is longer-lasting, more durable and more authentic-looking than composite, which is a cheaper alternative often used by other dentists. Porcelain is also less prone to staining.

Why might I need veneers?

Veneers are used to address a number of problems:

  • Uneven, crooked or misshapen teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Elimination of unsightly gaps between the teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • To hide and protect damage
