Helping whenever we can

Improve Your Smile isn’t only about mouths and teeth. Our local community is important to us and we love to make a difference where it’s needed in our area – while other charity work we do benefits people further afield and abroad, and the world in general. We are proud to be associated with all the organisations listed below.

The Stroke Association exists to increase awareness of Stroke and raise funds for research. Our Make May Purple coffee mornings with music and entertainment raised thousands of pounds for the association and alerted many more to the signs of stroke. Events such as ours mean more people may be spared the most devastating effects of stroke, and be given essential support in rebuilding their lives. A STROKE CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE.

Haven House Hospice, nearby in Woodford, provides care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and help for their families. We’re a member of the Haven House 100 Club, whereby we pledge to raise at least £1,000 for the Hospice every year. In 2019, with a group of other local businesses, we held an  “It’s a Knockout” day raising a combined total of £6,800 – our patients and friends having contributed £1,620.

To help reduce plastic pollution, we have joined the nationwide Refill Scheme. The idea is to make it easy for you to refill your water bottle rather than buy a new plastic one. As well as benefitting the environment this encourages people to drink enough water, and save money too. The initiative is having global impact – Refill claim 14 million plastic bottles will be saved from harming the environment each year if all the UK refill stations are used just twice a day.

As part of the Woodford Festival in 2018, we hosted a talk in aid of the Peace and Hope charity, who provide essential dentistry in remoter parts of Nicaragua where communities have no access to it. We have been pleased to donate valuable equipment to similar projects in African countries. A charity we are not currently involved with, but which has a comparable mission, is Dentaid, who organise dental professionals from the UK and abroad to travel to remote locations where they offer their skills free of charge.

In 2019 we were delighted to be the sponsors of the Disability Sports Award at the first Pride of Essex Sports Awards Ceremony. The event celebrated sporting achievements of individuals, clubs, coaches and teams in Essex. We were honoured to share a platform with personalities including Paralympian Anne Wafula-Strike, footballers Joe Cole and Frank Lampard, and cricket legend Ronnie Irani.
